The Cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo is declared as Natural Area and located between the towns of Nerja, in the province of Málaga and Almuñécar in the province of Granada,. It is also declared as ZEPIM (Specially Protected Area of Importance for the Mediterranean). It consists of a series of coves and cliffs which are up to 75 m of altitude. They are formed in the foothills of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama and eroded by the waves of the Mediterranean. In the same geological complex, is also the Cueva de Nerja situated. Highlights include the beaches of Las Alberquillas, Cala del Cañuelo, both in Malaga, and Cantarriján situated in Granada which is a nude beach. The trip will follow this part of the coastline.
