Dive Trip "Caves of Cantarriján"-Herradura (Costa Tropical)

The dive to the Caves of Cantarriján goes to the bottom of the cliff, located west of the beach Cantarriján. You will visit four caves that are situated in this cliff, at the sandy shallow bottom, between 8 and 10 m deep. Two of them are just cracks that go deep into the cliff. Access to them is easy, which makes this dive suitable for almost all kind of divers. In one of them is freshwater found. The upwelling creates a halocline, that can make the vision sometimes difficult. 

The dive starts in one of the cracks and at no time you will have the rocks above your head, but you can explore it without problem. The other crack mentioned, the upwelling, is only for divers with some experience. The cave is small, so only two divers at a time can visit it, while the rest of the group needs to wait outside, and will enter it in turn. This will take only a couple of minutes.

The cave has a somewhat narrow entrance, but can be entered without much difficulty. It has a large cave room with a rocky bottom and the ceiling has several entries, where the light enters. It is not more than 10 m deep, so it is a very accessible cave. Depending the lighting conditions you will see the characteristic fauna of the area and the rich benthic life that is typical for caves, gorgonians, tembladeras, prawns, etc. In this dive it is very important to control your buoyancy and take special care not to damage the subsurface.

Indispensable are a flashlight, proper training and experience.
