The village is located at 1350 meters above seal level and has 337 inhabitants (2013). It is located in the middle of the Porqueira Canyon between the villages Capileira and Pampaneira.
The Barranco del Poqueira is one of the most visited natural spaces in the province of Granada. The three villages have been declared historicañ and artistical. The history is dating back to the Romans but the streets and houses of Bubión have been created by the Arabs. The streets are full with potted plants which are in a beautiful contrast with the white houses.
