The village is located at 1436 meters above sea level and has 436 inhabitants (2013). Capileira is a beautiful town located in the Alpujarras and belongs to the National Park of Sierra Nevada. It is the second highest village in Andalusia, after Trévelez: Being close to the Mulhacen it is an excellent starting point for numerous mountain excursions
