The village is situated at 792 meters above sea level and has 1.487 inhabitants (2014). It is a typical village of the Altiplano with a lot of history. The first settlements are dating back to the prehistoric time. Like other villages in the region the people are still living in cave houses. The people are mainly living from the agriculture, but recently the revenues from tourism are growing and becoming an important source of income for some inhabitants. The village is mainly untouched and it has a modern eco musum which is recommended to visit.
