The village is located at 925 meters above sea level and has 1.264 inhabitants (2014). The municipality of Orce includes also Fuenta Nueva and Venta Micena. In this small town they have discovered the remains of the first settlements of humans in the Iberia. The archaeological site of Cerro de la Virgen includes a settlement dated at 2000 a. C. where they found three phases of the Neolithic layers, followed by other Romans, Visigoths and Arabs.
