The village is located at 775 meters above sea level and has 2825 inhabitants (2014). Zújar is located at the foot of the mountain "Cerro del Jabalcón". It is a place formed by ravines and streams that flow through a very productive agricultural valley. The mountain is very polular by paragliders.
Close to the lake is thermal groundwater flowing into the lake. At this place they have create the Zújar hotspring baths. In the surroundings of the baths you can also encounter hot water rivers. Especially in winter this is visable because of the vapor. The historical center is very diverse and excists of Moorish-style houses formed in the seventeenth century and cave houses.
