The village is located at 10 meters above sea level and has 2984 inhabitants (2013). The village is part of the municipality Gualchos. Castell de Ferro is situated between numerous small coves that dot the steep and craggy coast of Granada, at the foot of the hill which crowns its ancient castle in the middle of the wide range of Gualchos.
