The municipality of Ferreira is part of the Natural Park of Sierra Nevada, and is located on the northern slope. The abundant deposits of iron in the mining area was called the "Sened" by the Arabs.
The village is famous for its large posadas, of which three of them are still standing. Also worth highlighting the remains of the Moorish baths, which are located at the entrance of the village. A great part of its municipality is located in the Sierra Nevada National Park.
