The Sima de los Maderos is a cave of extraordinary beauty. It is located in the Sierra la Yedra, in the municipality of Nivar, Natural Park Sierra de Huétor in Granada. The entrance to the
cave is quite facil, but if you go with children you should be very careful, because the area is full of cavities and are not protected, so careful with children. The entry is
a rappel 20 meters down, accessible for the general public. The cave has a lot of stalactites and stalagmites. The route contains some down climbing between the rocks aided by a rope. You
can see the remains of the scaffolding of an old mining exploration which give name to the pit.
To reach this cave, you must go by road from Alfacar to the Alfaguara. Before reaching the crossing of the recreation area, take a path on the left, (closed by a chain), which goes up the mountain de la Yedra. At the end of the road, a path continuous (car wheeled). After this it changes into a small path which you follow until the location of the cave.
