The Sierra de la Alfaguara is located in the geographic center of the Granada province and hides several natural caves, such as Cueva de Gato and Cueva de los Mármoles They are of great beauty despite that they are little known. A hiking trail of 18 kilometers route goes along these caves but you can also only visit the caves on a one way trip.
How to get there?
The Sierra de la Alfaguara is part of the Natural Park of Sierra de Huétor. One point of access to this place is the town of Alfacar, a town that was the playground of the Zirids monarchs.
The spring of Fuente Grande, also known as las Lágrimas, is located in the upper town. The well, is back dating from the eleventh century and is one of the most important remains of the caliphs era who are now preserved.
