The village is situated at 738 meters above sealevel and has 671 inhabitants (2012). In 1967 the municipalities of Acequias, Chite, Mondújar, Murchas and Talará merged
into one municipality named Lecrín. Six years later Béznar joined the munipality of Lecrin together with its hamlet Peloteos.
The oldest monument of Mondújar are the hotsprings "Temas del Feche". They are in the lower part of the town.
The Baths of what must have been a Roman villa, dated between the first and fourth centuries AD and were discovered in 1983. Among the units excavated, there are some with a mosaic floor. It contains hot baths and a semicircular pool of 7 meters in diameter. The villagers are lving mainly from the cultivation of olive, almond and citrus.
