The gate was known as Arco de Almajura in the time of the Muslims. it is one of the main landmarks of the Albaicín. The Arco de las Pesas opens in the middle of the wall that
separated the Albaicin neighborhood with Alcazaba Qadima. The origin of its name is a little bit cruel because it was here where the traders who confiscate the weightsand were not
complying with the rules were hung. Its origins dates back to the eleventh century. Next to the gate is Plaza Larga situated with its terraces.
