In 1932 The Escuela de Estudios Árabes is founded in the two houses. This organisation has the aim to protect and promote Arabic studies in Spain. The houses are located on a large site adorned with an orchard and flower gardens. They are dating from the beginning of the 16th century. The most southern house seems to be constructed on the remains of an 14th century Nasrid palace. Part of the floor elements has been conserved.
