The village is situated at 740 meters above sea level and has 18.574 inhabitants (2014). To the municipality of Zubia belong also Cumbres Verdes and El Barrichuelo. According to the remains found in the caves of La Zubia (Cueva del Moro, Castor Cave and Cave of La Paloma) indicate that the first settlements are megalithic.
The Moorish influence is still being felt on the route of the "Barrio Alto" on some narrow alleys and streets as Miguel Hernández, former "Calle Real". In these streets settled important families as evidenced by its imposing facade and, balconies. However the old orchards that were present in the town center have almost disappeared. Perhaps the best representative is the "Huerta Grande", "Huerta Iberians" or the "Huerta de Santa Rita";
